WABASH TRACE NATURE TRAIL HIKE
The sixth annual Wabash Trace Hike to Help Refugees will start on Saturday, May
10th, 2008 and continue through Sunday, May 11th. On Saturday hikers will
travel from Shenandoah, IA to Imogene, IA. On Sunday the hike will continue
from Imogene, IA to Malvern, IA.
Hikers can do one day or both. Two day hikers will camp overnight in Imogene.
Hike pledge for both days is $160. One day pledge is $80. 100% of proceeds will
be used to purchase all season tents, each capable of sheltering a refugee family
of five. One tent is $80.
Hike fees will not be required this year, but, of course, 100% of all donations
will go to purchase tents for refugees. Please bring snacks and water for
hiking and bring camping equipment if you plan to spend the night.
In 2007 the fifth annual Wabash Trace Nature Trail Hike made an outstanding impact,
raising $9,290.13. This amount contributed to the $26,607.80 raised nationwide by
participants on 3 successful hike events. These efforts funded 332 tents which
can provide shelter for more than 1,500 persons displaced from the comfort and security
of their homes by conflict and violence.
