TORONTO HIKE
The Toronto hike will take place on May 29th and 30th, 2009. Participants will
hike the Bruce Trail at the Hillcrest Avenue access in Hamilton, all the way to
the Old Dundas Station Side Trail. It's about 19 km, and will take anywhere
from 4 to 6 hours. The next day, participants will take a shorter hike of about
7 kms on the Glen Ferguson Side Trail. With enough participation, arrangements
for accomodation in Hamilton or at a B and B in Dundas, and transportation to
and from the access points to public transit can be made available.
The idea of the hike is to 'provide participants a glimpse into the daily
obstacles of a refugee'. The Toronto Hike is one of several hikes throughout
the world to raise money for refugees. The Toronto Hike will coincide with the
last days of a week-long hike along the Wabash Nature Trail in Southwestern Iowa
- May 29th and 30th, 2009.
