HIKE TO HELP REFUGEES, Red Cedar Train Hike (Menomonie, WI)
The Red Cedar Trail Hike starting from Menomonie, Wisconsin will start on Friday,
May 16, 2008 at 1:00 pm. The hike leaves from the Menomonie Trailhead and
travels to Downsville (7 miles).
On Saturday May 17, 2008 the hike will continue at 8:30 AM travelling from Downsville
to Durand (10 miles).
Hikers can do one day or both. Two day hikers will camp overnight in Downsville.
Hike pledge for both days is $160. One day pledge is $80. 100% of proceeds will be
used to purchase all season tents, each capable of sheltering a refugee family
of five. One
tent is $80. The tents
will be used in Chad and Darfur.
Shuttles will transport hikers back to trailheads and also carry overnight gear.
Dress for the weather. Bring snacks and water. Bring money for supper and breakfast
at Downsville restaurants or pack your own meals. Complimentary lunch at Dunnville
on Saturday.
Hike limited to 25 participants. Children are welcome.
